Metrocentre Offers a Same Day Consultation and Procedure.

• Same day consultation and procedure is available or you can have them on separate days.
  
  
• Consultations take around 40 minutes and partners are most welcome to attend.
  
  
• The Open Ended Vasectomy procedure takes approximately 30 minutes with a short stay in recovery afterwards.

What Analgesia is used in the Open Ended Vasectomy Procedure?

• A local anaesthetic is used. This means that only the area is numb.

• Most men describe the Metrocentre Open Ended Vasectomy experience as involving “minimal discomfort” with a rating of a 0 to 2 out of 10 as the worst pain momentarily (10 being the worst pain ever experienced) and zero for most of the procedure.

• After a local anaesthetic, men can drive home.

If I am really nervous, can I have more Analgesia?

• Metrocentre also offers as part of the service an inhalation relaxing medication for men who are nervous or sensitive to pain in addition to the local anaesthetic.

• This can help you relax and assists to make you feel comfortable and even sleepy during the procedure.

• The recovery time after inhalation medication is a little longer.

• You cannot drive for the rest of the day after inhalation relaxing medication.

• Our anaesthetist who is involved with our vasectomy reversals is available for vasectomies for exceptional circumstances.
