1. After a vasectomy you are not the same.
This is untrue – in fact everything remains the same. Males can still ejaculate normally except that the amount of ejaculate is slightly less (but hardly noticeable) as there are no sperm present.
2. After a vasectomy you are not a man anymore.
This is untrue. After a vasectomy, you are the same person. Your personal feelings and sexual feelings remain unaffected by the procedure. There is nothing visually obvious after the procedure to suggest that you have had a vasectomy.
3. You cannot perform the same sexually anymore.
This is untrue. In fact, without the anxiety of unwanted pregnancies you may find that your performance is actually enhanced.
4. Having a vasectomy will increase my chances of developing testicular cancer
This is untrue. There is no clinical evidence of developing testicular cancer after a vasectomy.
5. After a vasectomy, my sexual organs shrink
This is untrue. In fact your sexual organs will remain the same. There is no clinical reason for them to shrink.
6. Vasectomies make you age faster.
This is untrue. A vasectomy has nothing to do with the ageing process. As with everyone – it all depends on how young you feel, your activity level and your self-esteem.
7. Vasectomies can never be successfully reversed.
Vasectomies can be reversed although the success of each case is dependant upon various factors. More information is available by clicking on Micro – Surgical Vasectomy Reversals on the menu bar.
