In Australia about 29,000 men have a vasectomy each year and with increased education and information, many men are now considering the techniques used in vasectomy procedures to assist in their choice of service provider.

Metrocentre is different to most other clinics in that we offer

• A Same Day Consultation and Procedure – We find that most men who have been considering a vasectomy prefer to attend Metrocentre once for both the consultation and procedure. The duration of the appointment is approximately one and a half hours and is performed in our dedicated theatre, with no requirement for overnight hospitalization. The same day consultation and vasectomy procedure is offered in both our Brisbane and Gold Coast rooms.

• Additional Analgesia if Required – We always use a local anaesthetic for our procedure and men are able to drive home afterwards. If a driver is available and there is no necessity to drive for the rest of the day, we do offer a relaxant inhalant, which has an excellent short-term effect.

• Highest Resolution Ultrasound Scan – One of the only clinics to utilize ultrasound, we find that the information provided in the scan allows us to pre-plan our surgical approach for each individual. Dr Lekich performs all of our scans onsite, enabling him to provide a full and complete pre procedural assessment.

• The use of an operating microscope to confirm that the structure cut is indeed the vas. The vas is 1-2 mm in diameter and the bore/lumen that transports the sperm is 0.2 mm in diametre (approximately three human hairs). The vas has three distinctive layers (inner intima, middle muscular layer, and outer adventitial layer). None of these features are easily discernible with the human eye. By using an operating microscope used during microsurgical vasectomy reversals, the details of the vas can be confirmed to ensure that the correct structure is cut at the time of the vasectomy.

• Dedicated Theatre – Metrocentre uses a specialized theatre for all procedures. Our theatre is dedicated to both Open Ended Vasectomy and Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversals.
